My home team had a FA match against Port Vale yesterday. Attracted a huge crowd (pretty well capacity) and a huge press contingent. I felt definitely inadequate lens-wise and had to pick a spot to shoot from that wasn't bristling with lenses already! Never seen so much interest - BBC, Sky etc were all there. Didn't see anything on the news, though, and just a bit on the web, no piccies.

There was a dodgy tackle on the home team player which sparked almost a bundle with all of both teams involved. Never seen that before! Port Vale played like a Sunday league side. Even their manager admitted Dartford were the better team.
Ended in a 1-1 draw.

There was even some drama in the crowd between the supporters - looked like just one lady havin' a go. They had a big police presence, but they were pretty useless being the wrong side of the barrier to do anything!

All it needed was a pitch invasion to make the whole thing epic.

Got some good pics, pity I can't post any :(

I love everyhting about the FA Cup... and we play dartford or port vale in next round :)

First thing I did saturday was check the draws... its an extra midweek fixture... sat night i fired off emails and now have a commision for vauxhall motors v hartlepool.. guaranteed fee and will be sending to nationals as well :) I love my job :)

Carol, were you sat next to me in the first half? You had an 70-200mm??? In front of the PV fans?

I've never seen so many togs at a match before, there were nationals there and at least 2 staff togs from up narf. Incredible.... Just remember to take you own high vis when you visit Dartford!

Hi Helen. Was that you? I had no idea. Hello :) Pity we didn't get to chat.
That was one 'eck of a lens you were toting.
I expected a crowd but not so many press.
Those PV fans were not 'appy, were they?
Did you stay that end for the 2nd half?

I was looking forward to one of the ties up here, but in the end I got commisioned to do an exciting 0-0 Blue Square North draw instead, but they all count! At least I didn't miss any shocks with Carlisle thumping Tipton and Hartlepool failing to score agaisnt Vauxhall. Darlington beat Bristol Rovers which technically is a shock, but it was a league fixture not long ago.

I got a commision for the replay Vauhall v hartlepool so there has to be goal one way or another on thie night ::)

Hi Carol, yes it is and yes it very heavy.... Sometimes I think it's too long for football, but for rugby and that's why I got it, it's beautiful.

I can't believe how many togs there were, At best guess 20. I have a great shot at from the end of the game where the PV were booing and one of there players covered his face, but applauded the crowd.

Can someone explain to me how its possible for this chap to post these images If he can do that, why am I so bothered about posting mine? I've no idea if he has a licence, but I guess it was the chap sitting pitchside about on the centreline on the same side as me in the second half. Surely he'd need a licence to get signed in? Or is classed as non-league?? Just wonderin' ..

I bet you got some good shots at the far end of the pitch, though. I can only watch and wait until the play comes into 'my' quadrant of the pitch, really. Suffering from lens envy ....

grey area... its on a non league ground with non league team as host.. yet its an fa fixture and photogrpahs of a league team..you wouldnt need a dataco licence to take the pictures so maybe ok... I wouldnt risk publishing them but I also couldnt say for 100% sure.. I would be 90% sure its not allowed..

Why not ask dataco.. I certainly dont mean by pointing them to this guy.. thats wrong. . I mean with a general question.. thats what i do when i need to know..

I ahve non league v league on the 16th a replay.. i wont be publishing unless i knew for 100% it was OK ..

Damn, got there before me!

It is a bit of grey area...my understanding was always the Football League team = No-no. However, I'm not entirely sure where the land lies with the FA Cup. As Tony says...Ask DJ at DataCo! Straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

I've sent DJ an email, asking the question on my behalf, what can I do with my images ...
I hope to hear from him.
