F1 Night Photography - Grand PRix

Hi All, Just after some advice on what settings and any tips for best results when shooting at a Grand Prix.

I have a ticket for the F1 in Singapore this weekend in Zone 4 - Walkabout and would like to know how to get the best results, I know it is a night race but am sure it will be it up quite well.

Any advice and tips would be gratefully received.

Well I'm no expert. But I have tried before and posted the pics on here.

That was at ISO 1600. f4. 1/250. 70mm. Should be pretty similar conditions to what you will experience.

Lit up or not lit up, you'll still need to run the ISO pretty high. Even in the pits at Le Mans, you have to push to ISO 1600 which, unless you have something very shiny and with a long series of zeroes on the price tag, is going to give you pretty sandy looking noise; a serious problem.

However, with a bit of flash, it might be possible to get something like this, as long as you don't have too much fence (as that'll just end up a white grid).

Just set a long exposure and rear sync the flash.
