F/4 for footie?

thats the point i made... no camera is going to produce the same quality as studio pictures from a sports game under floodlight using iso 12800

as for your canon quote? I got acceptable pictures at iso 12800 last night using a 70-200 on my canon 1dmkIV ... seriously its just about the only reason i upgraded from the mkIII ..I do a lot of high iso work indoors (no flash) and flloodlights

but the ds3 is producing great results at 25600 (even by my exacting studio standards)! A cut above what i've seen (in this thread) from the 7d. If I was editor for four-four-two then the ds3 images would be above my expected quality threshold, where as the 7d wouldn't make the cut

I'm curious how much better the 1d4 is over the 7d, and how much better the d3s is over the 1d4.

If the intended output is print i'm sure the difference would be even greater, e.g. a full page spread in a magazine- surely the d3s is going to produce a perfectly useable photo, where the 7d will not

Not that i'm going to switch systems or anything, but it's nice to be informed and keep up with things, even in fields which aren't your own.
