Afternoon folks,
I'm after a bit of advice if at all possible.

I'm trying to take some close up shots of my families eyes, ultimately I'll use them as wall art and have them blown up onto canvas prints.

I'm having various problems though and can't seem to get a shot I'm particularly happy with, mainly due to reflections all over the iris.

I've tried all sorts to minimise this but long story shot, everything I try brings about other issues - movement, out of focus etc etc.

So, has anyone tried this and do you have any tips?

I've only got basic kit - canon 1200d, efs 18-55 lens, macro lens attachments, cpl and ir filters, tripod.

Any tips would be massively appreciated.

Thanks,

Billy.

It's a simple question you've had a problem isolating, but once you've got your finger on it, the answer becomes fairly obvious.

I'm particularly happy with, mainly due to reflections all over the iris.

The iris will reflect whatever is in front of it, so you have to control what's in front of it.

The simplest setup would be a voile over a large window then get the subject close to the window, you'll get a large reflection of the window that's so much brighter than everything else, you'll end up with one bright spot rather than a muddle. If all the shots are taken in the same spot they're all uniform.

Interesting been looking to do this with my grandkids, thanks for the advice.

Thanks Phil, appreciate the feedback. I'll give it a go a bit later. I did try near a window but without the voile - I've got just the thing.

Cheers.

Don't get the subject to look directly at the camera lens but over your shoulder
