Eye-Fi sd cards

Hi

Been looking at the eye-fi sd cards.

Can they be used as a wi-fi card in a laptop without wifi ?

Ie to give internet access.

I know its not the intended use but need an access point on a friends laptop that does not have built in wifi.

Even if it worked seems an expensive way to get wifi onto a lappy, why not try a usb adapter

nope

You set the card up by telling it what wifi to link to, rather than setting one up on the card and then linking your pc to that

in other words, it works the wrong way round for what you want to do

plus, if I remember correctly you can only connect it to a new wifi channel when it is connected to the internet anyway
