You'll have to open it up to check for physical damage. if it is just some cables or cards broken out and disk is intact then just stick it in another caddy. In the reverse case you are very much out of luck I'm afraid. If it was spinning and writing at the time of fall it sounds like potentially bad news.
P.S. 2.5" HDDs don't need any mains cables. Smaller capacity and slightly higher price are only minor tradeoffs IMHO.
If it was write/reading when fell and hit the floor it could be toast but that is worst case scenario. As such g forces would likely exceed its safe margins and if the heads crashed there will be high potential for total loss.
