External GPU's

Id wait until the Gpu price bubble bursts.

Otherwise what do you want it for? There are empty thunderbolt enclosures that you can just slap in whatever card you want.

When you say external do you mean ‘discrete’ as in a separate gpu or do you mean an external one that you plug into a laptop?

Looking for an external one for laptop gaming, looking at some off the prices though it might be cheaper to build a gaming pc

This one here is £300 but does not include a GPU

Never used one before so looking for some advise

I think your right there about waiting for the bubble to burst, be interesting to see how geforce-now takes off

Speaking as someone who would love to upgrade his PC, this is possibly the worst time ever to consider buying a GPU. Ever :(
What sort of gpu are you considering?

I.e 1050/1060/1070/1080/ti

I'd love a 1070/1080 but I can't justify the expense ( I did see yours in the classifieds though!) Also I'd really need a new monitor to take full advantage of a new card as well.

I've got a 970 atm and to be honest it's great for 1080p, but I'm always lusting after 144hz...!

It sold in about 18 hours on overclockers. (If I’m being honest I only posted it here to cross reference my feedback) GPU’s are madness at the moment. I did pick up a brand new 1050ti from laptops direct for £150. This will power Lightroom/photoshop nicely and enable me to play games on lowered settings but I’ve been told it’s gaming or divorce so I need to focus more on photography, which is no bad thing.

So with GPU's being expensive would something like Geforce Now be an alternative for gaming, bottom line I guess it depends on budgets

considering the price of an external enclosure for a gpu, you might want to look into building a whole computer- it might be a little more expensive but you get more value imo, at least if you only want it for games- if you want to accelerate video rendering and you're using a high end laptop then that's the only use case I can think that makes an external gpu justifiable
