We have fibre from BT and have a smart hub 2 but we'd like to extend our wifi into the garden. We also have one of these BT discs - https://www.bt.com/broadband/complete-wifi and while we can sometime get a signal in the garden it isn't very good and we'd like to get

(a) a more reliable signal, and
(b) better coverage in the garden

Online I have seen things like this - https://www.wavlink.com/en_us/product/WL-WN572HG3.html

which could be mounted outside and look as if it could do the job.

Does anyone have any experience of these sort of externally mounted extenders?

All views welcomed, thanks.

We had a similar issue and our ISP provided a wifi extender which basically is one device which plugs into a socket near your router and a second which plugs into a socket near to where you need the extended range. We're not with BT but might be worth giving them a shout to see if they do something similar.

How about an additional BT "disc" - to form a mesh network.

I have 3 simlar (and much cheaper) units, and I have reliable whole house coverage, plus most of the rear garden.

I dont have BT Broadband but do have 2 of the BT wifi Mesh discs. One is in the downstairs front room connected direct to the router, the other is upstairs in the back room. This gives me full coverage of the house and to the bottom of my 25m garden and into an timber frame insulated building.
I got the disks cheap as at the time John Lewis were discontinuing the 2 pack starter kit.

I have turned off the wifi from the router itself and purely use the mesh system with 3 laptops, 3 phones, varies wireless speakers and wifi lightbulbs connected with no dropout. Wife works from home 8 hours a day connected continuously

Thanks for the replies all.

Dave
