Extender

Hi

Any one used a canon Extender EF 2X II, on a canon 100-400 L IS, with good
results, or maybe i would be better with the 1.4. any help please before
going and buying.

I would'nt put the 2X on it, the 1.4X should work ok.
You wont get AF with the 2X and the Canon 100-400 L IS anyway.
I use the 1.4X on my 70-200 F2.8 IS USM, and it work a treat.

With the 30d the 1.4 will not give AF either, But I have used on with my 100 400 in manual on a 20d with reasonable results

I use a 1.4 on my 100-400 and a 400d, I'm happy with the picture quality ,the only time there is a problem is when I C**K up the focusing!

please tell me why it wont work, is it because of F5.6 but it should work around low-middle of zoom i would have thought.:shrug:

If you have an xxd or xxd (don't know about a 5d) you will lose auto focus with the canon 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L IS, your smallest F is 6.3 when you stick a on 1.4 TC. I believe F5.6 is the limit for AF on those bodies
