OK, so I read in some posts that the exif settings are embedded in the picture - I guess this means that the details of what camera, lens and the setting used for the picture are there to be seen by those that know how - so, please tell me how to embed them, and how to read them...
Thanks,
Steve

To read them on my pc I right click on the thumbnail in a folder, then click properties >> Summary >> Advanced.

On the web to see EXIF you need an exif-viewer, and there's lots around to download if you google it :)

OK, I'll do that - then I can tell what lens I used to take what picture..
Cool !

As said there a a lot of free EXIF reader on the web, I use firefox and the plug-in FxIF 0.2.2.

Some readers give more information than others.

If you use Opera as your internet browser, its all inbuilt. As for embedding the exif in the first place, the camera should be doing this automatically. Just make sure you don't use things like 'save for web' in photoshop as this can strip the exif data out of the file.

You can still use Save for Web, you just need to be aware that if you do it will not retain the EXIF data.

If you want to keep the exposure details for posting on forums (as a lot of people do, and others like to be able to check) then you need to use Save As and select JPG that way.

Although I wrote a shell script to use ExifTool to copy the exposure fields from the raw file which I run after Save for Web.

you just go into image... size... make it 800x600 at 72 dpi... or size which doesnt go over the max of 800 at one edge.

its that hard ;)!!!
