After getting my Tamron 150-600 G2 for my D7500,
I have noticed that the Exif data on Flickr only shows up as 150-600mm f5-6.3, it’s the same in Lightroom when viewing the info by pressing I,
I have also noticed that this is the exact same on Flickr when I have looked at the Sigma 150-600 contemporary it shows 150-600mm f5-6.3,
I’m getting the impression this only happens with Nikon as I’ve seen a few canon users on flikr and it shows up as TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 A022
It’s quite frustrating when looking at photos and editing that it doesn’t show what the lens is,
How is it possible to know the sigma from the Tamron G2 when it shows the same for both,
I’m guessing there’s a lens database for each Nikon and canon, and appears that Nikon haven’t added the said lens into their database and canon have maybe ?,
Just a little peeve I thought I had to ask,
Cheers

It ought to be possible to distinguish between the Tamron and Sigma lenses, since they have distinct metadata even in Nikon files, though not all software may go to the trouble of separating them:

What does ExifTool report with your files? See:

or try this web version:

Thanks for the links,
I have just tried them as it only gives me 150-600mm f5-6.3 and nothing else,
It’s quite frustrating really and it doesn’t separate the fact it could be taken with a sigma or tamron.

Did you try a file straight out of the camera, or had it been through Lightroom first?
