Hi guys I'm after a little info if possible, I'll be near Oulton Park 04/03/16 and they have a exclusive car testing day going on. I just wanted to know if I can spectate, I've been to track days at Oulton Park and many races but never a testing day.

So my question is.........
1. is there public access
2. what can I expect to see (if allowed in)

Usually there are four categories of testing

- general testing - mixture of everything. Free entry. Diverse mix of cars.

- semi-exclusive testing - limited numbers of cars. Usually good stuff as its more expensive to hire. Normally free entry. Mixture of cars, its usually either closed wheels or open wheels, but some circuits do mix.

- exclusive testing - often a test day for a specific championship, so exclusively for formula 4, touring cars, british gt cars etc., Usually free entry, but check with circuit first.

- private events. Total Lock down. Unlikely to get in.

Thanks for the info, I should be able to get there for about 2pm so I hope there's access, touring cars would be nice.
 
@PINNACLE I contacted Oulton Park today and the guy said they are trying to keep the public out on Friday so I think I'll call again on Friday morning and see what answer I get then.
 
Hi Billy

If you look on their web, it's not letting me click on Friday and bring up details / info of the day, which normally suggests it's a closed (to the public) session - you can click on the semi-exclusive sessions over the next couple of days, it brings up info - could be worth a call as you say on Friday / maybe worth a trip down...

It was closed to the public, but I'm hoping to get a few days of good weather and take the odd day off work for some trackways soon.

Keep an eye on their web, some of the testing days are open to the public and good to go to - I've been to an F3 testing day and it was great, you could easily walk round the pit complex and look at the cars up close and personal without all the crowds...

I'll be looking out for an open testing day, as I said i've been to loads of track days but never a testing day.
