I had an Amazon return that they arranged by using Evri and a "Parcelshop" dropoff.......I have had this before and the service was AOK, including that Amazon made the refund shortly after the drop-off.

However, even though I have received the refund I have been tracking the parcel and 'they' have to deliver it!

Copied and pasted the tracking report below. And yes I have seen the news reports that Evri were(?) having issues but that was approx 1 week ago.

We've got it
15:41 - Fri Dec 23
We've received your parcel at the ParcelShop and we'll be collecting it shortly

15:31 - Sat Dec 24
Your parcel has been collected from the ParcelShop to be returned to the retailer

It's on its way back
03:35 - Fri Dec 30
Your parcel is on its way back to the retailer. Please contact your retailer for any further confirmation

As I recall from the news report, they also interviewed smaller business owners and personal customers and none too surprisingly they all said they would not use a supplier who used Evri .

The rebrand from Hermes to Evri does not seem to have improved their reputation/business.

Next great idea Lets rebrand from Evri to ?

The name change has done nothing except cost money.

Their ability to collect, process and deliver parcels is just as bad as it ever was and they also still seem to employ mostly morons.

Amazon still use them though - I can't understand it. IME, they can only deliver about 30/40% of what they're supposed to, the rest go 'missing'. :headbang:

Of the ones I do receive, the packaging is invariably damaged or soaking wet.

HERE. they are better than ParcelFarce.

Plenty of reports of people sending things like Xmas hampers mid-December and still haven't arrived at the destination!! Not that Royal Mail are doing any better - I received a Xmas card yesterday that was posted on 16th December......

Evri have actually done me a massive favour. I ordered a jumper from M&S as a Xmas present for my wife. M&S use Evri as their courier. The jumper showed as being at the Evri depot the next day, then it sat there for a couple of weeks. Suddenly the tracking details changed to they’d received it after three days, which I thought was a bit flakey, then the next day the tracking link didn’t work. Hmmm. So I copied and pasted the original info into the Evri tracking page and it came up as an invalid number.

At this point it was a few days before Xmas so I rang M&S. They couldn’t see where the parcel had got to, even with their dedicated access to the Evri site, so they offered me a choice of sending another one out “but there’s only a slim chance you’d get it before Xmas” or a refund. Not surprisingly I took the money.

On Xmas Eve Evri delivered the parcel. To my neighbour admittedly, but that’s close enough for Evri it seems. I rang M&S and they said just keep it, happy Xmas.

As it turns out the jumper is actually not very good, despite costing £89. My wife says it’s very poorly made compared to ones she’s had from M& S before and it was already covered in bobbles after a couple of hours wear. If Evri hadn’t have screwed up and I’d got it for nothing I’d have sent it back anyway.

I get various bits of junk mail delivered via our postie. Yesterday we got some Black Friday deal leaflets !

We ship up to 1000 parcels a week for a customer who choose to use them(we just pick and pack). We have less than 1% go missing, and as a percentage no worse than any of the other couriers we work with.

They were hit by enormous volumes through December due to the royal mail strikes as they are low cost.

Something that may not be obvious outside the industry is they have no control over the volume they receive daily as consignment labels can be raised days (or a couple of weeks for advance orders) before the parcel hits the network and they just process it when it hits the depot.

The other difference is that most carriers scan the parcels into the van but because Evri (and yodel) have much bigger volumes of sub 2kg parcels they take them in bags similar to builders merchant sand sacks and only scan them on their depots conveyor belts,

Thanks to my Herpes I have a free wifi mesh system that didn't work very well. They failed to collect and Amazon told me to keep it and refunded anyway. It's still wrapped up to go.

I find nothing gets lost for ages then several go missing together or turn up like they've been left with a pack of wolves to play with.

Name changes don't improve the underlying problem. It's still the same people. All the couriers I've used have fouled up at some point. My heart still sinks when Evri or Yodel is listed as the courier. They seem to be at the bottom of an already mediocre bunch.

Copy of one of my old posts:
Arranged a return collection for an M&S order on Wednesday 7th Dec. Got an email from Evri on Thurs saying that they would pick it up between 1930 and 2030 on Thurs 8th, got another email saying that they would still collect it but between 2000 and 2100, no collection and no more emails that day. Got identical emails on Fri, Sat, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri. Sat.
I have now informed M&S that I will return the items to a store,
Update:
I still got 2 emails a day from evri for another 5 days after I had taken the items back to a store.

I ordered from B&Q and got an email with an evri tracking number, the next day I got another email from B&Q with a fedex tracking number. The item was delivered OK, not sure who by as I was not in, 2 days later I got another email from B&Q, about the same item, with an evri tracking number . Evri are expecting my parcel very soon :)

Must just be lucky, no issues with local delivery driver(s) and Amazon process the refunds as soon as the item is scanned back into the delivery system which is fair.

I’ve just received a Christmas card from my old boss in Dunstable. Posted in early December :)

I’d say I’m on a 50/50 success rate with Evri delivering parcels.

Amazed at just how bad Hermes/Evri are!

I’m surprised Trading Standards haven’t made them rebrand to WLP.

We Lose Parcels :D

The irony being that despite the strikes RM still did pretty well. We continued to use them throughout the strikes and just warned customers to expect some delays.
We ship 100's of parcels a week and all but two parcels arrived safely albeit a few days late throughout December.

I know that RM where prioritising parcels and letting letters sit which is why so many Christmas cards are only being delivered now. I guess they figured parcels were more important than bills and cards.

They have competition in the parcel delivery sector so needed to keep that going but have a virtual monopoly over letters so were/are happy to let that service lag a little...

I'm probably being really thick, sorry, but I'm not understanding what the problem is here.

Over the strike period RM have still done a sterling job . I have on a couple of occasions inbound and outbound had parcelforce 24/48 as the options and there tracking is really good , as is d.p.d they give a accurate time slot to ,saves waiting in for possible delivery from EVRI .
Saying that if any company can cock things up EVRI can before xmas there tracking showed parcel delivered but I hadn’t had it ,the photo showed it had gone to the bitch opposite who I can’t stand so I went and retrieved it before it got claimed .. but did she ever kick off because I had gone on her property . The epitome of a pure thoroughbred Karen probably because i was mates with her ex . Think my mrs told her to F off ,very politely

I did not say it was a problem for me but as per my subject re : conundrum, I wonder how long Amazon wait before making their claim against Evri for such a lost(?) parcel.

Though perhaps Amazon don't bother to make such claims.....just write them off

They were treated to a nice tub of engine oil before Christmas. eBay eventually refunded me.

No surprises there - a driver must have done a quick change in some layby and carry on as if nothing happened.

Eventually I found another listing on Amazon that wasn't too crazy priced (oil nearly doubled recently). And sadly it is with herpes. I wonder if I ever see this one.

It isn't Amazons' problem, they just charge back to the supplier.

DPD are great and only a few pounds more per parcel, whilst people may not wish to pay a few quid more at least your parcel has half a chance of getting to its destination!
