OK not sure where I am going with this it may just turn into a rant....

Walking home tonight I have to cross a road, and in the middle of that road is a bus lane at the end of which is a set of Traffic Lights.

Now from 16:00 you can pretty much bet that along that road there is queuing traffic until 19:00.

Walking home tonight I attempt to cross the road and sure enough queuing traffic.

I attempt to cross...

I look right I see a Articulated Tractor unit approaching the end of the queue, I look left no traffic, and then right again and the tractor unit is still approaching the end of the queue.

I step between the cars to walk across the bus lane glance left nothing look right and literally about 15m the articulated tractor unit is bearing down at me at circa 30mph, jumping the queue of traffic and more worryingly he doesn't see me.

I jump back between the cars, by which time he has now braked and swerving towards the queue of stationary traffic.

I then walk up the queue of traffic to "have a word" which I am told "I should watch what I am doing"...to which I replied "So whats your excuse you don't look much like a motorbike, taxi or bus to me?"

Walking away I then got really riled up...why or what do people think that they are so important that they need to push themselves to the front totally disregarding all rules for the sake of being at the front of the queue? Why do they think that the bit of tarmac is so important that they must be first to touch it with their Michelins?

OK to keep this on a Photography bent I took a pic of the offending vehicle I can see at least two breaches of the highway code. (Red portion is Bus Lane)

C&C Welcome

I had a silly XXX run me off the road once, I took the info including number plate to police who were very helpful, contacted the offender, giving them the fright of their life, and then got back to me with their apology! Might be worth a try, you have gone one better and got photographic evidence! :naughty:

You'll never have a better opportunity. The numberplate is clear - go for it !

I'm sure his company would be pleased to hear about his attitude to other road users and the law!!

The only way his company would care is if their name was prominently visible in the photo.

Not necessarily - if he causes an accident or worse, injures/kills someone that will be all over the local papers.

Also - just because the company name isn't in that photo, doesn't mean it's not on the truck elsewhere.

Of course, you could be right and they dont give a ****

put his number plate on betterdrivingplease.com

Just remember though people, that with all those speed cameras out there ensuring our roads are safe (unlike ACTUAL police in cars) things like this simply can't happen.

(where's the "I really AM taking the p*** here" emoticon?)

Rich,

You've forgotten the 1st commandment of the Truck Drivers Code.

"I'm bigger than everyone else and it's not my vehicle, so you'd better let me through."

Truck drivers were once the best drivers on the road, not any more.

Have you ever tried crossing the road in Scilly ?? Makes your tail seem like an empty motorway......

Just send the picture to his company, let them deal with it.

Steve
