Event photography

Hello everyone, I'm new....

I have been asked to photograph an event and have absolutely no experience in this field : ( I really want to have a go but I am only used to photographing in daylight hours and have never used flash - eek! Can I use a wide aperture and higher ISO or would I have to invest in an external flash. Worried about being able to get sharp images without a tripod etc

Is the event definitely indoors? What body / lenses do you have?

Have a look around the tutorials section and there's some guys who will have loads of experience in photographing events, so make the search facility your friend and I'm sure you'll have all the answers you need in no time.

I would strongly suggest you speak to some of the other event photographers on here before attempting to do one on your own. One such member is Graham Taylor. Graham has years of experience as an event photographer and extremely helpful. See if you can find him under "snapzz" in your members list.
