Hi everyone.

I'm semi new to the SLR world. Have a Pentax P30t film with a Vivitar 28-70mm lens. I managed a few good shots with before price per shot killed my enthusiasm. Currently looking to try get a DSLR but cost is an issue even for older kit such as the D70.

Any tips on where to look for a good deal out side of eBay will be appreciated.

This was probably as good as I managed on my SLR, hoping to do better in future.

Used gear, there's plenty of places but I'd suggest you keep an eye on the Classified: For Sale sub-forums; there's plenty of good bargains to be found there. According to the rules of TalkPhotography, you need to have been a member for at least 30 day with 100 posts before you can post a new thread in there; but that doesn't mean you cannot buy something on offer there.

Brooklands, Surrey, a blast from the past . I went to college, for my A' levels there, Brooklands' Technical College. What memories this has brought .

I was thinking of selling the Pentax to help fund a DSLR but for the sake of £20 I'll keep it.

Brooklands is an awesome place, and I have a few ideas for pics once I have a camera that will do what I tell it to! (and not cost £10 for 27 pictures) Now, who's got a D70(s) and lens they want rid of!

there are a breed of cameras between compact and dslr....the bridge cameras

i can confirm i get on ok with mine
