If you were to receive a cheque through the post, from a well known financial company - with no explanation as to why it was sent, and it was not expected, what would you do?
Cash it into a high interest account but don't spend it, then contact the company. If they want it back give it to them. They get their money back and you get some interest
Edit: I seem to remember when I was in the UK some companies would send a cheque in the post as an unrequested loan offer, If you cashed it then you basically accepted the loan and had to pay it back with interest. If so rip it up.

I think they all stopped that when someone successfully claimed all the money without having to pay them back as he had not agreed to anything with them....or something.
Yep, If you hadn't signed anything, there was no loan.. It's called the consumer credit act
also, they'll be able to trace the hypothetical cheque, so you're not going to gain long term... you might get a few quid of interest though.. prob just easier to ring the company and tell them their mistake IMO
