Ethernet cable to computer problem

I think your PC is still trying to connect itself to the old router with the old IP. The new router has possibly assigned the old IP to the Xbox or TV.
Turn off PC and router, disconnect all cables from the router and wait a couple of minutes, connect the PC network cable to the router and switch on the router, them switch on the PC.
Report back.
I doubt if you need a new cable.

Already been done. The PC has been restarted a number of times. Turning the PC off for a few minutes won’t make any difference. DHCP just doesn’t work like that. That’s what IT support tell you to do to make them sound smart and to get rid of you.

There is no IP address assigned to the Ethernet card, it’s already been checked.

:ty: all for your help

I came down this morning, turned my computer on and - voila.
TV xbox and bt tv is working :)

I don't want to touch anything

Just out of interest have you got any little LEDs built into your Ethernet port on your PC. If so you should have one green and one blinking orange led. Look for the same on your router. That will at least tell you whether you have some king of connectivity. Then go into device manager and find your Ethernet driver and uninstall it. Reboot your machine and let it reinstall. It may come up on your PC as new network. Just click on cancel and see if your PC connects. It could just be that there's some settings from your previous router just causing you strife.

Dohh late as usual

Not any leds on my computer.

I think the internet/computer magic people were working while I was asleep last night...

Glad it all turned out well, it's amazing what a cold reboot can do :)
