Hi,
This tuesday I'm going to buy a Nikon D3100 from Jessops as i've found a mega bundle which I think is really good value for money:

So before getting it I thought about buying a case for it to go in, but I don't know which to choose. I probably wont be buying any other lenses for quite a while until I've mastered how to properly use the camera, so only needs to be small.
The other thing that I need to think about are lens covers/filters, whatever they're called. Can anyone recommend the best way to protect the lens on the 18-55mm lens supplied with the camera?
Many thanks

Have a look around the classified sections of this very forum, some nice cases, of varying sizes, up for sale.

Regarding protecting your lens, either stick with using the lens hood, or purchase a uv filter. But that's a whole discussion on it's own with different people having different points of view and not being afraid to express them

I personally like having a uv filter fitted, but others will say that a lens hood is quite enough protection.

If you've got a bag big enough to put it in with a bit of padding, I'd just use that. It's not going to be spending that much time in there. If you want a camera bag, something big enough to take the camera, spare lens, cloth/cards, and a drink would be good.
