Hi all,

I recently joined this forum and have found lots of useful info which is helping me get to grips with everything. I was just wondering what the best piece of kit to invest in for a trip to Cornwall in September will be, I am planning on taking mainly landscape shots.

I currently have a Canon 450d, with the standard kit lens and also the Canon 100-300 zoom lens. I also have a tripod, shutter release cable and hot shoe spirit level.

From reading through some of the other posts on here I am thinking of buying a circular polarising filter. I am also considering hiring a wide angle lens (lensforhire get good reviews on here so would probably be through them).

Is there anything else that I should be considering?

I'm going in 6weeks, if you are going on the rocks take a cloth to wipe your lens for seaspray. the Tokina 11-16mm would be a good wide angle lens. thats all i can think of you have the all the main equipment i think.

A circular polarising filter is always a decent idea and you may want one or 2 Neutral Density Graduated filters to hold back the exposure of the sky. Maybe a few OS maps to help plan your shoots.

Actually you might find that the kit lens in perfectly good for Landscape. 18mm is still pretty wide, even on a crop body.
Personally I really struggle to get good results with an Ultra Wide Angle.
Take waterproofs and keep an eye on the weather.
Stormy seascapes can be very photogenic.
You might be lucky and get enormous waves breaking over rocks....dramatic.
Most of Cornwall is in easy reach of the Coast.
Check out the Surfers at Newquay and Perranporth. The telephoto zoom will be good for those shots.
Have fun, I love it down there.

:thumbs:Just remember a good brolly. lots of waterproofs & plenty of towels for drying your kit

flippers, goggles and snorkel :)

Take everything you own - it's Cornwall, not the steaming jungles of Batavia...

:bonk:Ahh Rob if they go to Eden its just like Batavia except much more expensive

Sounds like I have most stuff covered... and having been to Cornwall in September before, the waterproofs are the first thing on the kit list!

Been to Eden before, not sure I would go back in a hurry... can think of much better things to spend the money on!

Staying just a couple of miles away from Lands End. Will be doing a fair bit of costal walking so should be able to find some good places for some nice shots, will try and get out early/ late as well to ake thhe most of the sun rises and sets....
