Yes
I've got quite a few camera and lens boxes that are taking up space. I have a D500, a D700 and a D7200. I won't be selling them at any future date as they have all racked up a high shutter count and the amount I'd get if I sold them wouldn't be much. Far better to hang onto them. Ditto with the lenses. Throw the boxes? Or will I regret this at a later date?

NO NEVER EVER SLING THEM.

You WILL ditch the D500 as soon as you see the new shiny version when it comes out.

Happens every time as soon as tech looks old

I've got 60,000 on the shutter and that's in 15 months Don't think anyone would want it.

Never sling them. They can always be sold on, even for "not much" and the boxes are designed to ship the camera without getting damaged and cannot harm the resale the value. The polystyrene in the box snugly fits the camera keeping it safe in transit.

It's not that old and not THAT high - maybe 50% of new cost.

Sell them on e-bay, some mug will buy them and if you're lucky they will think you're selling either a camera and/or the lens.

I’ve got a cupboard full of camera equipment boxes - and a shed full of Amazon boxes. :help:

Mine are in a plastic storage box in the spare room. They don't need watering, feeding or walking so might as well keep them unless there's just no room for them at all.

I recently part exchanged a Canon 1.4x converter at Park cameras.

I asked what the likely value would be and was given a figure, but when I produced the as new item with the box, polystyrene inserts, pouch and all the bits of paper, the salesman couldn't stop saying how amazed he was at it's condition and they gave me well over what it would have gone for on eBay.

Keep the boxes if you can

David

I've never thrown away a box from any of my cameras, lenses or accessories. There was a large pile of them in the loft complete with user manuals, warranty cards, etc., until we had a water pipe burst and ruin them all :(

It hasn't prevented me from selling some gear recently and I don't think it affected the prices I got either but I will still keep new boxes I get ... just keep them in a sealed container :)

When I buy anything from MPB I give preference to those with original packaging , even if there is no price difference. In my (warped) mind it bestows a symbol of care from its previous owner.
