Yes
I have an Epson R1900 which stopped working while I was struggling to clear a blocked nozzle. The leds are all flashing in an alternating pattern.
Googling indicates this is almost certainly the waste ink pad being full.

However..
Google is very confusing about what to do about it!

I found nothing specific to the R1900, just Epson printers in general.
Some say it's new printer time.
Others say to download their printer reset software; only found paid versions, nothing free.
There's a hint that there could be a magic power up button sequence that will also do the reset.
Advice from my photobuddies say talk to Epson as they are very helpful (IMHO they spend WAY too much time on the phone to Epson) and a comment that Fotospeed are very good at fixing Epsons.

But none of these options are recommended for the R1900; just that they are worth a go!
Suggestions and recommendations most welcome!
Thanks - Duncan

Ebay have numerous listings for a reset program for your printer,
for less than a pint.
Thats what i would do.

Hi Duncan
I have an Epson R1800 and I have used this http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html to reset my printer counter.
As to the waste ink pad being full, the first time I reset my printer I left the ink pads alone but they just got so saturated I had to get my printer serviced (not cheap) from what I remember, I then fitted one of those http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/230621450471?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&cbt=y
So easy to fit and all your waste ink goes to the tank instead of the pads the residue ink that you have in the pads will slowly drain to the tank as well.
I have not had any problem with my printer for at least 5 years now although it will open your eyes as to how much ink you waste.
You tube link on how to fit the tank http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXkashbJDf8
Hope this helps

Perfect - thanks!
Just what I was after - a bit of a confidence boost that an eBay purchase was the way forward.
Order placed.

I use the SSC utillity and a waste ink tank for my R2400. works a treat particularly when you run a CIS.

I'd never even heard of the waste ink pad till I started Googling for this.
Now I know where all the ink goes!

Yup - I'm a CIS man too - mines from Lyson.
I'd just bought a load more ink, so the idea of scrapping the printer was not very appealing.

It's pretty shocking how much ink is wasted when you do a head clean.
