Hi All,

Just scanned some negatives using an Epson V600. Pretty impressed with the results.

I was just wondering whether there was some magic settings that people use when scanning? The Epson Scan software seems to have options all over the place. Or do you just decide to scan at a set quality and tweak anything is PS?

For B&W images they seem spot on pretty much from the scanners defaults. Maybe the odd brightness / contrast adjustment here and there. Colour on the other hand takes a little tweak I have found.

I'm pretty new to negative scanners so thought I would get an idea on what settings people often use be it for colour or black and white and what to tick / not tick.

Cheers

Just received my V550.....very impressed with the results, although having trouble getting some particularly curly films to stay flat. I assume some kind of glass is the best way to help that?

I'm getting mighty annoyed with my v330... all my scans are way WAY too contrasty, its doing my noggin in... time to relearn the scanning basics

I just got a new v600 today. I'd already got hold of a copy of Vuescan, and just using the basic interface I'm very pleased with the results so far scanning in a couple of 120 black and white negatives. Although I am scanning at "archive" level which takes aaaaages!

I have noticed the film is fairly curly in the holder but I also ordered one of the lomo Digitaliza holders which should turn up soon.
