Help needed please.

My sister in law has just been given the above second hand printer. It came without any software CD or manuals.

I have been able to suss out most of the operating systems and I now have everything working BUT for one thing. I cannot get the memory card and USB slots to read in explorer on her PC. If you put a card in either the SD or CF slots or the USB port the printer will read them and allow you to view the photos on the printer's display screen but nothing can be viewed on the PC. After installing the printer she has a new drive letter in Explorer but when you access it it simply says "please insert a disc" even if a memory card or USB stick is present.

I have an Epson printer and it allows me to view SD cards etc in Explorer I cannot believe the 700W does not offer the same function.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this conundrum please?

If anyone has links to where I can download the installation software and a full user manual as well she would be eternally grateful.

Thanks

I've no links, but I'd be very surprised if Epson's website didn't have drivers and manuals for it.

Yes they have drivers and basic guides etc on the Epson site but not the initial installation instruction document that comes with it and provide instructions on how to set up the wifi etc. Or the wi-fi start up wizard that comes on the original CD. Neither of these can be found of the Epson site.

I have got this sorted now but the start up guide/cd would be useful for my sister in law in case she ever has to do it herself.

I had this printer a few years ago. It is an excellent printer when (if) it works and print quality was very good using Epson ink and paper. I don't remember ever being able to use the the card reader sockets to read cards to the computer and I wonder if it perhaps was only able to use the sockets to print from. Seems very unlikely.

Save your sister in law grief and pop it straight in the skip. I used it to print at least once a week to stop the cartridges drying up but it would still get blockages and it drank ink during the endless cleaning cycles leading to the 'end of life' error message. The internet is full of useful information to reset the error message and how to stop the sponge in the filling up with ink. I'm really surprised it's still working even though it was a £200 printer when it first came out.

this page from the online manual takes the step by step of how setup wireless access to the memory card http://support.epson-europe.com/onlineguides/en/px700800series/html_z/setpn_3.htm

is that what you are looking for ???

Now I see why I couldn't access the card reader as I used USB to connect my printer. Sadly a couple of years too late for me but it is a case of RTFM (if you have one) and I didn't but to be fair to myself it was easier to use the SD card reader in the computer than printer because of where I had it positioned.. :)

Fantastic it worked a treat. Thanks very much indeed.

Glad it helped :)

I do wonder sometimes whether manufacturers put in a feature that is supposed to be useful but them crippled because it can only be used in "one" way i.e. as it seems to me the card reader is designed to be used directly within the printer but when need to be accessed by the PC it is only for wireless not wired operation and even then needs not so obvious settings???

In my case I didn't consider this as a value-added feature when I bought the printer and never intended using it though I did try unsuccessfully when my brother brought a card over that I didn't otherwise have a card reader for.

Despite what I said about the reliability of my one I really liked this printer and the quality of the prints with all Epson media was excellent. Though I was a regular user I wasn't a heavy user and for it to have packed in shortly after the warranty ran out is the major annoyance to me. I'm sure your sister in law will be delighted with it.
