I have an Epson R220. It has done well and given me many years of service. Recently it came up with a service message saying: Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation.

It seems this is due to the inkpad counter reaching a point which then tells the printer to stop working. I've tried resetting by holding the 3 buttons as been suggested on a yahoo search but this was for the r300 and hasn't helped me. There are lots of things about dl software but I've tried that when it through a wobbly due to not using genuine ink and it was a waste of time.

I have considered replacing my well used printer but to by a printer without the scanner etc is too expensive and I have a scanner. Also i dont want to spend over £100 on a printer when really there's nothing wrong with mine.

I do have another printer for photos (the 1500W) but don't want to use that for docs etc.

Can anyone help with a way to reset the inkpad counter please?

So I've ended up ordering the Epson P50 from Park Cameras. This printer uses hummingbird ink but can also take the larger owl ink, which is what my 1500W uses.
Only bad thing is that I'd just replaced all the carts in the R220:rage:

I have a spare R220 you can have if you collect but blocked head tried to clean it but yellow was a problem and now run out of ink.

I impressed you managed to find someone with a P50 in stock to replace one I had already warn out. Tried to get one last year and really struggled until I lucked upon one. They are good printers, nice step up from the R220 which I used to have too.

For what it is worth I am pretty sure I had success with this software - http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml - for resetting the counter on the R220.

Yep ssc from the above link is the best tool for the job, does quite a bit of other gubbins too.
