Now that I am about to have time to get stuck into my new 40D (hardly ever used the 30D) I would like to change the naff strap. The supplied strap in my opinion seems to just brag to anyone that you have an ''EOS DIGITAL" camera, wow!, anyway I would like to replace it for something more functional perhaps with the neck portion wider than the rest of it and/or some kind of grip material incorporated.
Any recommendations ?.

! couldn't agree more. Modern supplied straps are crappy things. They used to come at one time with a much thinner strap which you could wind around your hand, and was a real aid to stability and avoiding camera shake.

The Optech camera straps are probably the best replacement you can get. Also have a look at the Canon E1 handstrap, although with a 40D you'd need the battery grip to fit it.

On my 40D with battery grip i have the E1 handstrap and the Optech neckstrap (bought from WHE though) and the combination is fantastic.

The Canon strap that comes with the camera is horrible and does nothing but cause soreness of the neck.

Upgrade and never look back.

I have really felt the difference since I traded my EOS strap for the TPF Optech strap.
Tis wide & soft around the neck, slimmer down the sides, and far less conspicuous than EOS!
I really couldnt imagine being without it now... though it took a few weeks to get passed the fear of those buckles coming undone :)

Sorry, can't wait for the TP logo strap, just placed an order for this one. http://preview.SPAM/3857hh
Thanks for the advice.

Came today, although a big improvement on the supplied EOS strap the webbing material that attaches to the loops on the camera is a little light compared to the EOS webbing and just loses shape and slides to one side. But then that's just me being fussy and picky:D
It is however conservative and lovely and comfortable to wear:)
