Enlargment...

Hey guys

I have been given a photo from my grandmother which she wants enlarging (Currently smaller than 6x4)
I have NO acsess to the negative, only the print so what do people suggest?

My idea was to possibly scan the image into PSE8, image->Resize->image size->Bicubic

She is hoping to get something along the size of A4 but A3 would be excellent if possible... suggestions guys n girls?

Scan it in the highest resolution you can. It might be an idea to get it done on a canvas, you will get away with using a lower resolution then. Snapmad.com are pretty cheap and have some good reviews on here.

Ok scanner only has a res' of 1200 x 2400 dpi. Taking into account that res would be cropped around the photo its not looking good?

You will need to give it a go.
I scanned in an old photo my gran had, was around 5x3 I think, and blew it up to A4
Needed a bit of restoration
Consider that you won't need to look at it 3" from the print.
And possibly, your gran's eyesight may not be exceptional.

edit:
What is the picture of? Trying to sharpen it with a high pass filter etc. around features might work

The pic is of herself, her (deceased) husband and her daughter. I like the idea of canvas print as it might well be more forgiving than a paper print.

A3 possible or am I just talking out of my ass?
