End of the Rolleiflex era?

Sadly, most of those cameras that the latest (and last) incarnation of the Rolleiflex company were already significantly out of reach. And with such a strong, well supplied second-hand market (and not to mention the niche it occupies), it was always going to be tough to generate real revenue. For someone with the cash, picking up a good condition Rolleiflex is still relatively easy, and there are still plenty of good people who know how to repair them.

Strangely enough I was looking at the specs and prices of new Rolleiflexes today and wondering whether to put one on the things-to-buy when I retire list. As someone else on the web pointed out, they are cheaper than a new Leica plus a lens.

Very sad news, the brand didn't quite make 100 years as this does look like the end of the road. Tha latest and last versions were very expensive and hard to justify, but it is none the less they end of an epoch. My row of Cords and flex's are all weeping!
