it could be that you have put off certain updates for so long it is now forcing the issue?
Do you ever restart this PC.

What version of Windows do you have?
To check click the windows key (Extreme bottom left of screen) type 'winver'....click the greyed box with the word 'winver' in it.
If you can suck eggs...my apologies! :)

Yes, Daily.
Deferred updates, Microsoft is taking a more pushy stance with these notifications but they are legit. Unless you have a specific compatibility issue I strongly suggest you update.

I had this on my laptop. If it's the same update, then it's quite big in size. It took a very long time (many, many hours) for it to download on my 'In the English countryside' broadband connection speed.

It's worrying how often their big updates break things, my older PC originally on W7 invariably loses sound and needs driver roll back.
The newer one no longer has any means to start up their own defender even though it's in program files and I re-installed it in the registry, it was completely missing.
I have full malwarebytes doing a similar job once I realised.
That happened to it about a year ago too - I eventually 'fixed it' by full repair install which deleted more than I expected so not doing that again in a hurry

They did get better for a while but the update before this one did break a number of things. My approach is to defer by a few weeks until kinks are ironed out and then I’m good to go.
