Hi folks,

I'm about to buy a spare battery for my Nikon D200:
Below is what I'm considering buying:

Nikon EN-EL3e (the genuine one) £26.99 amazon
OR Hama EN-EL3e £15.87 7dayshop
OR Energizer EN-EL3e £11.99 7dayshop

Delivery is included for all three.

Have you had any experience with the non-OEM ones ?

Thank you

I've read many reports of third party batteries working absolutely fine with cameras, and I've also read of third party batteries overheating and bursting/overheating within bodies due to issues with OEM chargers.

I've always thought of it as this way; you've spent 'n' hundred pounds on an expensive body, where 'n' is a bloody large number one may presume! For the sake of what, 40 maybe 50 pounds, is it worth the aggravation of not purchasing one?! Especially if they may cause you later issues with camera body warranties (if applicable).

You pays your monies, you takes your choice! :)

I have a 7ds unbranded EN-EL3a for my D50 and am pretty happy with it. Seems to last as long as the Nikon one. Not done a huge number of charges but seems fine so far. Was only about £7 irrc.

Etefore on Ebay, I've used their batteries in almost every camera I've had and never once had an issue....

i have a Bluemax aftermarket and another make besides the Nikon one and been really good long lasting nearly as long as the Nikon battery, you would have to be very unlcky for it to destroy the camera i'd think, mine have been charged about 8 times each.

I've been using 7dayshop's own unbranded ones for years and never had a problem with any of them. They've always lasted just as long as the branded ones and charge just the same as well.

ebay ones have been fine for me...............

I use the 7dayshop ones and have never had a problem. In use I cannot tell the difference between these and the Nikon ones. I would prefer to buy from 7dayshop rather than an EBay seller as I have bought from them for years.

I've been using a Hahnel one for a couple of years without any problems whatsoever, and it works exactly like the OE one.

I read somewhere that Hahnel and Nikon OE are made in the same factory, and the only difference is the badging and price .. not sure if that's true or not thought
