Hope I'm asking this in the right section, apologies if not.

I took a few shots for a friend over the weekend and he asked me if it was possible to add a piece of clickable text to the photo that would link to their website.

After a bit of googling and playing with photoshop i thought i had it sussed...

loaded the image, added text, used the slice tool and inserted the link, saved as 'save for web&devices'

with the resulting file saved to my desktop i can open it and the image opens fine with the clickable text, but when i try to email it to them and they open it all they see is a blank screen with a small icon in the top left and a clickable area where the text was.

anyone tell me what i am doing wrong or is it just not possible to do this and email it??

Are you sure you're sending your friend the HTML code generated by Photoshop as well as the picture itself?

You can't embed a link into a photo and have it be clickable.

What you can do is make a section of HTML code that will make an area of the image clickable in a browser. The HTML code together with the JPEG (I assume) then make the clickable "photo".

It sounds like your HTML doesn't reference the correct photo location when it is attached to the mail or he hasn't saved both the HTML and photo to the same place and just clicked the link in the mail you have sent him.

i assume so, i sent him the file that was created by photoshop, do i need to also send the picture as a seperate file?

i assume that's what i did when i added the added the text with the web address and then created a slice around the text and placed the relevant code into it

any idea how i check this?

sorry for the stream of questions!

What did you send him (body of the mail & attachments would be useful)

i simply attached the file that had been created by photoshop when i saved the picture with the link inserted - i think! . i'll check properly when i get home this evening.

thanks for your help
