So I took delivery of a 3 x 6 metre white vinyl roll this morning from Bessel ( great service by the way ). Tomorrow I will be putting it up and tearing down my white muslin I have used for 2 years while shedding tears of joy at not having to edit out another crease!

But I just had a rather embarrassing thought. I have no idea which side to have facing out and on the floor facing up? I have not unrolled it yet, its still in the tube so I cant tell you exactly what kind of surfaces are on each side but I know many here own Bessel vinyl so could you pretty please clarify for me which side to shoot at? Is there not a matt side and shiny side ? :help:

Oursnhasba bumpy side and a flat side, we shoot flat side down, although I cannot see how it would make a difference.

There is often a matt side and a shiny (ish) side to vinyl, you want the matt side facing out to the camera ;)

I've used the smooth side for about 3 years. Now it's irredeemably dirty so I use the bumpy side.

I guess I'll need a new one on a couple of years or so.

I use CIF cream on a cloth to remove kids shoe slide marks etc, it works a treat and keeps it looking almost as new (except where the tape runs around the floor edges to prevent tripping), one day I'll attack that with some Tar-X or similar. Mine is heavy duty tarpaulin/curtain-side material about 1.5mm thk and doesn't have a bumpy side though)
