im looking to create a newletter each month with offers etc i also need a email programme that can distribute this email with a stop subscribing feture pref for use with mac money not too much of a issue but dont want to pay £1000's also one where i can add email adresses myself that is not related to a website if possible more related to a email adress

i currently use mozilla thunderbird and mac's own email programme

i want to keep the email adresses seperate as the mac i use has work and personal stuff on so dont want to add random people to my own accounts hence the reaon for wanting a independat email software programme ie like a database type

I use Mailchimp for my local pub, it's free if you have less than 2,000 subscribers and send less than 12,000 emails per month, otherwise it's a paid service.

They also have a new service Mandrill that may be of use - I haven't tried it.

mail chimp here too for stuff like wedding fair follow ups. Takes a bit of getting your head around the first time, but once you do, makes it all very easy.

I was sent a link to a program to last week called SendBlaster - the blurb looks quite impressive, especially if you are getting to numbers where providers will charge, but no idea what it's really like. Might be worth a quick nosy at, see what you think.

Have a look at CampaignMonitor, I think it's better than MailChimp, but I also think it costs more.

Have used both extensively and to be honest, they are pretty much on par. We send to a subscriber base of about 20-20 thousand.

Mailchimp has a much wider 'ecosystem' of third-party applications and services which interact with it. This may or may not be a consideration.

Don't even consider buying an email programme and sending newsletters from your home/office computer. ISP's HATE this, as it can get their servers and IP addresses blocked.
