Ok ive been looking about at studio lighting i CANNOT afford lol and see warehouseexpress doing a monthly payment deal.. (b****r)

What do peeps think over these two.

The bowens dont have internal fan so they get hot and overheat, and are dearer.

Any comments on what people have?

Hi I used Bowens 500 500 Gemini set up first class never any overheating probs and lights were on sometimes 9 hours
good plus with this set up when cash allows you can buy a battery pack and use lights anywhere .pack costs around £360 I think.
Good Luck Ron

From what I have read (I don't have studio lights - yet) you will not go far wrong with either.
From what I have seen the Bowens are more expensive across the range :rules: but not by more then 10% but they are British...
Elinchron flash units are used by the police in some speed cameras – :suspect: this means that they are really reliable and fast but it also means that they may have already cost you money… :bat::bat::bat:

Elinchroms d lite 4s are great, mine are fancooled bought from warehouse express. accessories are a little expensive, because the other makes use bowens connections(from what i seen) so very few cheaper alternatives, come in two nice carrybags, but i dont think you will have a problem with either of these sets. i dont think overheating will cause you much problems unless your using them for extensive sessions, in which case, turn the modelling lights off and you should be alright

hehe after about a week considering i purchased the D-lites.

Im having some issues with them flashing on their own at the moment though.

Was having a play shooting the wife at the weekend and spat the dummy out. Turned them off and left the room before one of them went out the window!!!!!

It is funny to me that people say that Elinchrome are fan cooled and so don't over heat, but they don't remember the fact that the Bowens don't have a overheating cut off, but Elinchrome need to put one in their lights even with the Fan cooling......

The only lights I have ever seen that have had problems that include not turning on, and just switching off are the Elinchromes.

At college we use the Bowens studio flashes. Really easy to use and quite a good price. Also Bowens have just made a ring light flash for the studio heads which is a big plus in my eyes.

Who told you that LOL.

Neither are likely to let you down. Bowens are a bit more ruggedly built, Elinchrom have a better range of accessories. Both are better than anything else on the market, except for top of the range brands like Bron
