Elinchrom D-Lite heads and umberellas

I have bought two D-Lite2 flash heads and all is great with them bar one thing. Every brolly I own won't fit them? The metal handle of the brolly is too large for the hole in the heads? Do these need specific Elinchrom brollys ??
 
Standard umbrella shaft is 8mm, though Elinchrom has always been 7mm. Many umbrellas can be had in either size.

On the other hand, if your D-Lites are not too old, Elinchroms have an additional universal umbrella mount incorporated into the head/stand mount.
 
I wouldn't fit those LED bulbs until someone with more knowledge can confirm they're okay, even if they will physically fit. I suspect potential problems/damage with dimming electronics.
 
If you look at the bit where you actually fit it onto the light stand, there is often a mount that takes a universal size stem. The positioning isn't quite as ideal, but it still works.
 
That is a problem with elinchrom, standard brolly shafts do not fit. We had hassle at our camera club the other night, all our brollies were standard 8mm. We had to gaffer tape them on.
Personally i would get the correct brollies, then they are set up, without bodging them, more expense, i hear you say, but better than adapting, and then they fall over and break.
