My work was clearing out some storage rooms for dumping and i came across a Elinchrom A3000n & elinchrom 1500. I said i would have. Im new to photography and already have a lasolite hilite and a basic nikon slr to take pictures of the kids.
The above units do not have any leads have the modelling bulb in and thats it. Would these be.worth investing in or are they ready for the skip as they look old. Thanks everyone

If they're in decent shape, definitely worth investigating. They were not cheap. Contact UK distributers, The Flash Centre.

As above. They are in fact very old, but were well made and as long as they work they are very definitely worth having.
The lead is just a kettle lead (with a bit cut out of it, similar to but not the same as a computer lead) and should be easy to get.

The only problem you may encounter is power - these were designed for commercial use with medium or large format film cameras and, even at the lowest power settings, you may have too much. Fixable though with ND filter or gels

If they've only got the modelling bulb that might be a problem as the flash tube won't be cheap.

You could probably sell and get enough cash to afford a decent monoblock though.

Thanks everyone had a little investigation on ebay at work and they actually have the flash tube and not the modelling bulb.. So thats good (if work!) worth carrying home on the tube from london then. Found the phase one 645af camera case with two lenses 80mm and 45mm but no camera body :-( think someone has taken all the good stuff and just dumped what i have.

I knew that the flash tube couldn't be missing as it isn't user changeable. An assistant broke one of mine on a 3000 head once and from memory the cost was something like £387 so I didn't bother

Wow thats expensive, be dumping it if thats the case, lets hope its ok..
Will keep everyone updated, need to confirm it with head of department that i can take home, then can see what ive got.

Will keep updated. Thanks

Little.more information on the above. I still have the lights however i had to give the power pack back. On the plus side i also found a phase one 645 medium format camera. Does anyone no anything about these cameras?
