Yes
Hi can you do layer masks in e 10?

Also does it have smart sharpen I did read that it has a cut down version of it but as long as I can adjust the amount and radius that would be fine
At the moment I'm using cs2 but need to update my pc
Cs 2 won't run on 64 bit and I can't afford 600 quid for cs5
And to be honest I don't really need the full version of PhotoShop anyway as I do most of my adjusting in dpp

I have elements 9 and yes it can do layer masks, it does'nt have smart sharpen put as a adjust shapenee option which you can adjust amount and radius, also has unsharp mask with the same options..

Hope this helps

Thanks Barry that is helpful :)
I was hoping that the later versions had smart sharpen
I really like the smart sharpen and have got used to the best settings
It is the thing that I most use in PhotoShop cs 2 I may be better off upgrading my laptop

Actually it is the same thing but just a different name, adjust sharpness has the same settings has smart sharpen does under smart sharpen basic settings in CS3 but does not have the advanced features.

Ahh thanks Paul that does sound like it will do the same thing
If I remember correctly smart sharpen in cs 2 only sharpens the edges it would be great if the version in elements did the same
I don't need the advanced things just alter the amount and radius
:)

You can download a 30 day trial of full version of elements 10 if you sign up to Adobe.
Ten if you decide to buy you just add the reg no they give you and carry on.

Thanks lesley that is good idea :)
What I'm doing tho is deciding whether to upgrade ,speed up , my current laptop and use the cs 2 I've got or buy a new desktop and get elements if it will do what I need
It does look like elements will do just what I need
And it probably makes more sense to start again with a new pc
I have already upgraded the memory in the laptop

Something else iv just thought of
Can you
Edit
Fade smart sharpen , luminosity
Sorry for all the questions

I have PSE9, I read a report on PSE10 and there is very little difference between 9 & 10, I won't be upgrading.

PSE9 can now be bought quite cheaply I'd have thought.

Thanks Dave :)
I did notice that dell do elements 9 cheaply as part of the build when you get a PC from them. I may pay a bit more to have the CD tho :)

Be aware Elements9 is licenced for 3 computers only

Do you know if this applies to the student and teacher versions as well?

I'm thinking about getting elements but fear that if I install it onto my current laptop that it will grind to a halt. Would hate to do that and then buy a new laptop only to find that it's only licensed for one computer.

Don't have those versions so best to e-mail Adobe and ask them.
