Elements 6 (Mac) not opening CR2 files from new 550d

I have looked on the Adobe site and it seems that I will have to purchase Elements 8 in order to open Canon 550d raw files on my Mac.

Is this correct or am I looking in the wrong place for an updated ACR download?

I have successfully updated Lightroom to 2.7 and that opens the CR2 files no problem, it's just the Elements Adobe Camera Raw that I'm having problems with.
 
Or the free DNG convertor, there's a sticky explaining it at the top of the forum ;)

6.1 will only work with Elements 8. Perhaps I'll try the DNG converter or just do the raw in Lightroom and convert to JPG and then do what I need to do in Elements.

it is annoying that you can't upgrade that part of the software.
 
I am using 6.1 with Elements 6 on my Imac, it does say it supports EOS 550D but I haven't actually tried it with one.
 
Well I think I'll upgrade to 6.1 and try it, you never know I may get lucky! If not I'll save up for PS5 I think.
 
You can upgrade from PS elements to CS5 and get a discount, its worth looking at.
