I have recently located an old copy of Photoshop Elements and decided to give it a try. I normally process my raw files with Canon's own DPP.
When trying to open raw files in Elements, the photo's are initially found from the cf card, and then give to option to save to hard drive. When the import is complete, a message appears advising files can't be opened as they may be damaged. I have tried with a jpeg file and that works ok, and I can alter any jpeg file in elements. The files from the cf card are not damaged, as I can still re-open them through DPP. Any idea's?

In addition has anyone had experience of using both Canon's DPP and Elements 3.0, as I was wondering if there is much to be gained in this older copy?

Later versions of photoshops raw converter plugin no longer support elements 3, I'm not sure which one it happened on or whether you can still get an early enough version to work with your software. (assuming you downloaded it?)

It might work if you use the adobe DNG converter to convert your RAWs to DNGs. I think Elements three works with DNG files.

Thanks for the info, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to load anything other than jpeg's. I have searched through the available downloads and all I could find was a camera raw 3.1 update, which has made no difference.

I suppose now my real question switches to the following; does anyone have experience of using Canon's own DPP and one of the current version's of Elements. If so, how much more useful is Elements, compared to DPP?

No idea about DPP but have you tried the DNG converter?

Thanks for the link, which I have downloaded. Unfortunately I still get the following message for every raw file I try to import - ' The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organiser '.Is there any other settings I should be adjusting in photoshop, before I go to the stage of importing?
