Hi,

I have been looking to purchase a two head studio lighting kit (400-500w heads). I like the elinchrome BXRi, but i recently came across a press release for the elemental trinity, which also look promising.

I have tried to research them extensively (google, photography forums, you tube videos from owners), but can find no credible independant reviews, there only appears to be reproductions of the official press release from elemental.

It also concerns me that:

1. The company hold no stock for the product. They claim this is due to them selling out from the five star reviews - so why can't i find them?
2. Some of the posts/threads i have found on this website (and others), by elemental staff, seem unprofessional, at best!

Does anyone here actually own some of these? If so, how do they perform and has elemental been reliable?

Thanks.

Elemental are a reliable and very much real company with a number of full time employees and their own warehouse and studio. I use their older pro series lights, work great. As with some other companies that supply cheaper products than the 'big names' of bowens elinchrom etc, but have their products manufactured in the far east, they can have stock problems sadly, especially with shipping and customs delays. Lencarta often has similar issues.

Sadly, the only real reviews of most products in the UK seems to be along the lines of 'well the stands felt well made' and 'I liked the colour of the casing' as opposed to any technical specs or testing, and are often only really posted in print magazines.

If you've got any questions specifically about the lights, give them a call, they'll be happy to help.

As for the threads on this site, yes, there have been...altercations... but often largely in part between them and another popular UK lighting brand. The less said on the subject the better tbh, however I regard them and their products highly and have no problem recommending them.

thanks for the replies.

The link to gman's review was helpful.

I will give elemental a call and see if they have an update on the expected arrival of their next container.

If i can wait 3-4 weeks, i will go with these, if not then it looks like elinchrom.

No, not altercations between them and 'another well known brand', in fact there was no altercation, just a series of unprovoked attacks on Lencarta.

This is the thread, and here is another example.

FWIW, although I may not hold their owner in high esteem, I have nothing whatever against the Company.

lol.......

...my thoughts exactly.

Top business rule: extol the merits of your products and customer service, but do not comment negatively on your competitors - it is self destructive to your own business.

to clarify it was Gary I was loling at not elemental

I recently bought the Elemental twin head Genesis setup and have to say I'm extremely impressed with their performance, sturdy build quality and customer service. I am still pretty new to the world of studio flash etc so needed some help when chosing what to invest in. They were very helpful and unbiased (I knew nothing of any "altercations" on here at the time and they were open and honest and did not try to sway me either way).
The goods arrived next day and were plug-and-play. Job done.
I would highly recommend them.

Glad it was helpful

The review I did was a bit basic and I didn't do much testing at the time but I've been using them since for some jobs and both the Trinity and Genesis ones have works flawlessly :D

They do seem genuinely helpful.

I spoke with them today, regarding the wait for stock to arrive, as i have a prior commitment in mid December. They offered to lend me some stock, until they could fill the back order of mine.
