Hi i am currently in the market for a new lens, so far i am looking at the 70-200 F2.8 & 100-400. but i am not sure on the weather or not to go for the IS or not. I know this has been discussed at length before but i thought mine was at a different angle.
The lens will be used mainly for Panning small RC cars with means you have to pan very quickly. i would also be intrested in wildlife stuff but no where near as much.

Thanks in advance

The IS on the 70-200 (and I think the 100-400) has two modes, the second mode detects panning and only corrects for movement that's not in the panning direction.

Perfect. :thumbs:cheers

:agree:

Yep, the 100-400 has two modes. One for general hand held work and the other (mode 2) for panning. i.e only vertical movement is corrected.

If you dont get on with it, you can also turn the IS off but it does come in useful for the wildlife shots handheld.

i wouldnt even bother with IS if i was you. When i had it i just used to turn it off all the time.
my recommendation would be to get the 70-200 f2.8 without the IS and spend the extra on a 1.4x teleconverter
