Hi

I have just been looking through the thread of photos taken with the above lens.
This does look like a very good portrait lens to add to my kit, is this the one they call the niffy 50?

Do you think this is worth getting

Cheers

It's a bargain of a lens, well worth playing with and a good introduction to wider aperture, low light, shallow depth of field, fixed focal length (prime) shooting. The focus isn't overly fast and can sometimes miss but then you can't expect perfection, also it's not brilliantly sharp at f1.8, however I've used one quite a bit, even on my 5DmkII (for fun) and it does fine. I now have progressed to the Sigma 50mm f1.4 for a bit more sharpness and better AF (oh and 2/3 stops more light).

You will certainly have fun!

This was my second lens after getting a dslr and my only regret was not getting it at the same time as the camera and missing a year using it. I use it a lot and miss it if I don't have it with me which is rare. I have also learnt a lot as it makes you think about composition.

Looks like I just got one off the classifieds section,

:) o yes cant wait to take some more pics of the wife:lol:

i sold mine a while back but picked up a mk1 today and love the images it produces for the money
