Editing Photos Without Loosing The EXIF Data

Hi all.... I want to be able to edit an image and keep all the EXIF data attached. I know theres an easier way than this so I'm hoping you guys can through a couple of suggestions out.

The problem starts when I want to level an image out....

1) Open the image in CS2
2) Copy all and move to a new version
3) Crop / edit / rotate etc that and resize...
4) Copy that layer back on the original image
5) Flatten that and save
6) Using an editor edit time stamps etc

Any thoughts / products I could look at ?

are you doing save for the web or just save?

The newer versions of pshop delete the exif data is using save to the web so you have to do it the other way

When I do the above I do save as it keeps the EXIF data...... may be in the past I have done 'save for web' and ended up doing it this way.... ? One of the main reasons for editing the new image is so that I can resize the image back to its original size before copying back.

Ideally I want to level / edit then zoom in but keep the original size and the EXIF data if you follow.
