Week 5 - Hard
(somewhat like these theme - difficult to think up something :) )

Rocks, stones... between a rock and a hard place. Ended up using someone elses submission as an idea... Still took a while to take the pic just like this. Sensor was dirty too :/

Got some ideas... Just need weather and time ;)

Hi,
dunno how I have missed your 52 thread till now. Really great work throughout. Particular highlights for me are "Style". Great perspective angle and colours. "Trio" I like for the same reasons as"Style". "Chaos", what a great idea and very well executed. It really shows Chaos and confusion. I,ll be watchin for the rest of your 52. Nice work

Martin

Hiya,

Sorry I also seem to have missed your thread, but well done on catching up so quickly.

I like the angle at which you have taken the 'style' and 'trio' shots and the sky looks great in both.

With the trio reshoot, I think it is a bit of a tight crop, just clipping the bottom petal and a bit more space below may benefit the image.

Really like the chaos shot, the colours are brill and definitely looks chaotic.

Now that I have your thread tagged I shouldn't miss it again. Look forward to following your progress and good luck.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Week 14 - Object...

Hmmm... of desire... object-chun? hmmm

hi vince..loving the perspective of style, not having a len wide enough i envy shots like this...

..and i thought long similar lines as ..of desire... but plumped for a different angle..

Thanks for the comments. Will endeavour to meet (and hopefully exceed) the expectations built so far...

I will try to add some more pics this weekend to fill up those that I'm missing.

Thank you again for the comments (and inspiration - your 52 Weeks are filled with great ideas!)

Week 15 - Wrong

Nowt wrong with...

First take - sorry for any offense! Also its a local takeaway, but I had to change the name a little...

Week 15 Wrong by KatiaUK, on Flickr

...Which I finally did

Week 15 Wrong by KatiaUK, on Flickr

Hiya

Great takes on the themes and another one that I was going to do, i.e., the chicken and the egg  It's amazing how many one can think of for paradox.

How the hell did you do the chicken pic ... it is brilliant

Also like your take on the Wrong theme ... although I'm not sure Mr Wong would be impressed

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi there and nice one for nearly catching up.

For me, stand outs are:

#4, the red label really set it off; nice perspective and composition.

#12, great contrast and the use of the torch works well.

Schrodingers Cat, this paradox always gives me a head ache...:gag: I like the closeness of this one and the perspective works well....

Some of your photographs look a bit soft? Was week 2 a 2 second exposure?

Cheers.

Barrysprout Very good pp on the chicken shot, well done.

Ta

michael23 An excellent take on paradox, love the chicken and the egg, that was one I wanted to do, but couldn't find a chicken to photograph!

Actually its Mr Tangs... but I wont tell if you wont.
Chicken pic was taken on a ranch in Brasil at the beginning of the year (posted the chick on flickr) the chicken and chick are in their positions when taken.
Background masked off, replaced with black.

Eggs are a recent evening shoot, painted with light (from a weak torch) on a black acrylic (a3 size). 5-6 secs then cropped down, using a vivitar 28mm f2.5 m42 - around f8 I think...
Three different takes on the lighting, then those are put in and masked out.. with the mask being gausian blurred in places.
Processed in Gimp

posiview Some of your photographs look a bit soft? Was week 2 a 2 second exposure?
Painting with a desk lamp on an acrylic (a3 size).
Probably over exposed it a bit/white reflected too much. The vivitar 28mm lens I used has a tendancy to soften if there is too much light :)
Possibly its photobucket (I forgot to resize before uploading and it may have done something to them...)

#12, great contrast and the use of the torch works well.
Thanks!!
I thought I should have had more space near the top would have worked better.
The lighting was quite a few tries and one was this. Thought it looked good with almost lightning coming off the glass :D

Of your Power shots i really like the second one. Great composition colours lines and angles in it. Well done.
Just seen your Chicken and Egg for the first time and am very impressed. Fab processing .
Great close-up of the box too.
Really nice work

Hiya,

I like your 3rd power shot the most, mainly because of the composition and I like the use of the frame/border.

I'm not as keen on the power-line shots perhaps because of the angle at which you have shot them, and the 2nd seems a bit too much saturated to me  The first is very low key and seems to be suffering from either composition, i.e., vertical vs horizonal lines and a bit of punch (may have to do with the WB).

Hope that doesn't sound too negative, it is not intended.

Cheers

I was trying for the border... hope it worked well enough.

#2 is a hdr as it seemed either the sky looked great, but the ground didn't, or visa versa. Hence one shot raw, exposed differently and merged using artizan. Might have boosted the colours a little too much :D

I will check the wb... but the area is not the best to hang around in and there wasn't anywhere to get a little higher... I was planning to be nearer the hedge and shoot the lines over the field, but the hedge is 6ft+

2nd power version for me, like the angle,

Hi, there, I'm a fan of power lines...there's plenty of opportunities: abstract, lines, isolation, and more.

First thing I noticed in your power photographs was they're very busy, unless that's what you intended. I feel they work better without clutter. Hoping over the hedge in #1 would improve. Although I don't like clutter in power line pjotographs, a nice red car with some motion blur would look good in #1. #2, I can see you're tried to use the path as a lead in but unfortunetly it leads to a fence/gate/tree, hop over the fence?

Colours and contrast are an issue, though #2 is the better, for me. #1 lacks 'boom'.

Cheers.

Some good shots for "power". The second power lines pic hits the mark for me. Was this an HDR? - if so it's been done well as it look natural. There's a bit too much going on in the foreground for me - I feel the bushes/trees a bit distracting.

#1 lol yeah... boom... Think its a little undersaurated and not bright...
#2 Fence hedge has a motorway on one side and private land (I think) on the other. I could walk down to the fence tho, but I think the tree would spoil the view... Might try a retake at some point.

#2 is a HDR yes. My thought was to use them as a sort of scale... Fences at a normal height... Looking at it now tho, hmmm yeah I agree. Might try a reshoot at some point.

#1 is in a not so nice area, #2 is just by a motorway, traffic but not too bad so :) will try again next week or so.

Hiya

Oooo... I love this photo for Divided, just the kind of landscape photo I like to take .... loads of colour and big fluffy cloudy sky :)

Only tiny little nit-pick for me is the tuft of grass and stick off left centre and stick on the right. Otherwise a lovely photo

Definitely fits the theme ;)

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

What a fantastic sky, great reflections on the water too. Dawn has already pointed out the two very small niggles. Great shot, well done.
