Why cant anything be straight forward!!

I odered some of the sensor wipes from Morco LTD, they arrived in VERY quick order, but! i 'Assumed' it came as a package WITH the cleaning fluid.. anyway, im now looking at getting the fluid but there is the Lens & CCD Cleaner or the the E2 Sensor only cleaner.. i think im going to get the Lens AND ccd cleaner so i can clean both but i need to know if the Sensor only version is better at its job...

Anyone have a clue??

I've a bottle of Eclipse here but it doesn't say anything about sensor only or lens.. I can't imagine anything that would be safe to use on your sensor woukd be harmful to a lens?

ooh looks like you need both types fraggle but that list doesn't say you 'must' use one type or the other.

Their was a big thing about it when they introduced the E2 stuff as some of the sensors have a diffrent coating on them if you trawl the net you will find it, basically use what it says for each sensor.

Or use a totally better system made by Visible dust http://www.visibledust.com/

I only use eclipse for front element cleaning dont put it anywhere near my sensors anymore.

5D needs the special stuff unfortunately - I have a full bottle of the normal Eclipse fluid just sitting there as I bought it just before I got my 5D :annoyed:

This is the page that says its a Lens AND ccd cleaner..

http://morco.uk.com/latest/eclipse_sensor_swab.htm

And this is an extract from the add for the E2..

E2 is not recommended for lenses or filters - use original ECLIPSE Optic Cleaner

But is the E2 BETTER at cleaning sensors then the one that does both??

I think i'll get the multi purpose one..

I wouldnt use the standard Eclipse fluid on the 40D as it requires the new E2 stuff acording to the manufacturers of the stuff

Thx for the link Mho.. iv just ordered the Sclypse stuff too..

Moomike.. i hope your wrong!! lol.. what made you think it wasnt anygood for the 5D??

Its for my 5D atm.. Im gonna let the widget in the 40D do its thing for now.. lol.

I dont know why it all has to be so complicated,.....probably just to get us to part with our money.

Im hearing that my friend...

I read that the usual stuff wasn't ok for the 5D on a post here - it had a link to an official site too, I'll be made up if I'm wrong
I'll see if I can dig out the thread that it was in.

lets hope it was the other way round eh!! we'll all be winners.. doubt it tho eh!!

If you can find the link it'd be great.. but then it will leave us a bit torn!! lol.. if Eclypse say its ok??...

I have the original Eclipse and I bought a bottle of E2 for cleaning the 5D.

E2 is much slower to evaporate than Eclipse. I use one drop of E2 on a swab only. 2 drops stays too wet.

Cleaning the 5D is pretty straightforward. It actually helps having the bigger space to work in of a full frame sensor. I still use the small swabs and just take 2 passes.
