Yes
Having bought something on eBay on Saturday it arrived yesterday but being a busy student I didn't have time to open it.

Today I have had 5 missed calls, an email and a call on my house phone in Birmingham because apparantly the wrong item has been sent.

Now that The Apprentice (and You're Fired) is over I've opened it and the seller has infact sent me 9 filters instead of a filter holder, adapters and 105mm front ring.

Obviously the items I received are far more valuable than the ones I purchased but what would happen if I were to send them back and then the seller refuses to send out what I really won? Seller has proof of postage, and my electronic signature, so would PayPal side with him regardless of what I do?

The obvious thing is for me to send the filters direct to the third person who should have them, and the seller send me the correct item. I think this is a genuine mistake, but with two unknown parties involved either, or both, could make up some story and it end up me being out of pocket.

Any ideas anyone?

Do the right thing, send the items back or on to the next seller, if the person has 100% feedback and and good number to back it up then they are to be trusted.....ish.

Or if your really worried ask for your item to be sent to you and then you`ll post the wrong item back.

Get them to send you the correct item along with prepaid packaging to return the goods.

How do you know the seller was going to send the right stuff in the first place.
Well you don't, there is a measure of trust to be employed by both parties in any deal.
Seems like a right old rigmarole for a seller to go through just to get out of sending you a few bits and bobs, I mean if we were talking D3's then that might get a bit paranoiac, but a filter holder and a ring....
You still need to place your initial trust when you bought the thing with the seller.

Oh come on, dont let this go down the same route as the guy who so called got stitched up when he bought a new Nikon. Yes there is only trust, but that goes with any transaction be it in a shop or Ebay. As mentioned get the seller to arrange delivery of the holder and collection of the wrong goods. Problemo sorted. Also send a copy of his email to Ebay and explain, that way you got a bit of coverage before the goods are collected from you.

If it was me and I'd sent the wrong items out (which I did do once on Ebay) I would either a) pay the return shipping or b) if it was a low value item and I had more than one of them, tell the customer to keep the item he received and ship out the correct one and pay the shipping.

Really? Jeez.

eBay has its issues, but its still generally ok. Until people don't play fair.

OP - do the right thing - send them back. Once you start holding things to ransom, you become one of the bad guys.

return it viarecorded at their expense, if it becomes a problem, tell ebay, you recieved the wrong item, you will have return postage to him as proof

:agree: Absolutely

Just a thought, if you are sending it back initiate a Paypal dispute (assuming that's how you paid) before returning it and explain to Paypal that you are only doing so to ensure the correct details are logged with them should there be a problem.

As soon as you have the correct item(s) simply close the dispute.
