anyway 1hr later I get a second bid chance for £1000 :woot:
all my xmas's came at once, because the seller has no feed back I contacted him and said I will drive down and pick up and give you cash no paypal fees. he would not do this said he has been scamed this waay before ( how can you be scamed wth cash??) so after several emails it looks like it was just a con, I have told him if he only wants paypal I will come down and pick up and bring my lap top to trasnsfere the funds there and then if he does not agree to this then he is trying to rip me off . I am still waiting the reply ;)
I will post the link in a couple of days , dont want to do it now as you never know  he might get back to me.

so beware of scammers

Yep, I've seen similar. I've also noticed that those expensive items such as high value cameras, reach a higher price for established sellers with a few sales under their belt. Sellers with little or no feedback people are wary of because they don;t seem to sell for as much. Worth it if you want to take a chance, but most are probably scammers. I recently purchased a 1d mk11n of ebay, those that live in London with little or no feedback, just didn't repsond when cash on collection was made. One seller advertised (in the standard description options) video recording with a 1DS, so I emailed and asked how good it was, the seller replied that it was just like a normal video camera. Hmm, of course he had the camera to sell.

W Bankers!
Trouble is someone will get caught out,
forums like this are good for alerting buyers to this type of scam, and those in the know will aviod them like the plague, but others may be less fortunate, unfortunately :(

even if they accept cash beware
there are stories of large blokes with an interest in baseball being in attendance for a meet "near King's Cross station"
cash changes hands, but goods don't seem to!!!

Yeah, there was a story either early this year or late last year of a guy that bought a car on ebay for about 5,000. When he turned up to get the car the 'sellers' relived him of his money and obviously didn't have the car in the first place.

Jesus.. whats happened to the good old fashioned knock offs!! lol...

Del boy!! come back... all is forgiven!! lol...

I've just had an email from Ebay saying that my feedback score had been reduced by 1 as a member I bought from recently had been suspended.
The feedback left for him shows half a dozen people having sent money and got nothing.
This guy didn't accept Paypal and used bank transfers.
I took the chance and received the goods (£340 worth of lens) but two weeks later he seems to have vanished.
I guess that I got lucky there.

Bob

I think unless I can do cash on collection then I will stick to you guys on the forums for second hand gear. there is just so many people trying it on and to think we are only looking at the camera stuff !!!

I can't help but feel that people who get scammed deserve what they get. If they weren't looking for something for nothing in the first place they wouldn't fall foul of scammers.

Good point Steep
However I am sure that there is more than a few of us who remember Ebay a few years back when there were real bargains to be had. I think fleabay has now become a victim of its own sucess along with certain scum bags that take advantage of peoples good nature. That has really dragged it down to the level at which it now is. Very few bargains exist but it can be a convieniant place to shop if your careful

There are still bargains to be had though, and doesnt everyone want something for nothing? It's not a case of not wanting to pay a fair price for it, but if I had the choice of paying £500, or £1000 for a 5d, then it's a no brainer which one I would choose.

As an eBay seller myself I can honestly say NEVER buy anything from someone with NO feedback. This works in opposite too.

That said I bought a D70, 10-20mm Sigma, 24-70 Nikon, 80 - 210 Nikon, SB800, Billingham Bag and 5 filters for £483.

Rock on.

Well re feedback, everyone has to start somewhere, I look for good feedback and if the seller has only a few I check the things they have sold and when.

i wonder if you would still think that if a you or a memeber of your family had lost £1000 on something that seemed legit?
not all seem to good to be true . some look very for real, one I was looking at was a fair price but I later found out this guys account had been hijacked he had a 100% feed back it was only when I asked for cash on collection I found out it was a scam
