Made in China, watch the colour temps, can you get spare tubes etc.

I bought a couple of sets of barndoors from this company supposed to fit Bowens "S" but were way too small, I am awaiting refund from them.

You may be better off going Lencarta at least you know they will not disappear overnight!

you may well be right, but the lencarta is twice the price, and my best guess is that they are also made in China!

I dont think this outfit will know much about studio flash, they are box shifters really. Would be good to find someone who actually has these units, its all too easy to go for a know brand through fear of this type of unit.

I've seen this on sale in Shanghai, they are of course unbranded lights that are sold by a lot of different people - and like all unbranded lights, some of which claim to actually make them:) - and you can buy the same thing from other sellers for a lot less.

What's inside them? Don't know for sure, but as they only have a very dim modelling lamp you can be sure that they won't have a fan, and buying ANY studio flash head that doesn't have a fan is taking a risk. This type of lamp typically only has one capacitor (or maybe 2) which means that the colours AND the flash energy will be all over the place, not only at differerent power settings but also from one pop to the next. Also, recycling times will be very slow. Without adequate capacitors, the power can only be adjusted by using a potentiometer, which has a disasterous affect on colour temperature.

For comparison, the Lencarta SmartFlash has 9 capacitors - and that's the cheapest in the Lencarta range...

And the body is made of very soft alloy (sometimes described as aircraft alluminium) because it's very cheap to make. Looks tough but... And very poor electical insulation obviously, something to think about with the very high voltages involved.

And it has a fixed reflector, which makes it impossible to get any modifiers except for the 'universal' ones, which tend to be very poor.

Oh, and the Lencarta is just £140 more for very similar kit contents, so nowhere near twice the price.

If you've made up your mind that you can live with this kit then fair enough, but best to shop around for a cheaper seller.

elemental studio flash are cheap AND good so might be worth a shifty

agreed but again their 3 head outfit is £465, so pretty much twice the price. At £259 I wont be too upset if it doesnt get much use but I really struggle to justify the higher price of elemental or Lencarta

You may buy it and they turn out to be great.....but then again you may pay £260 and they may be crap

Unless you can find someone who has bought a set of these lights, would you be happy spending that amount on something you have never tried before and can find no customer reviews of.

Other brands may be more expensive but in my opinon, as a rule of thumb, you get what you pay for.

Unless you can find someone who has bought a set of these lights

hammer nail head!

exactly what I am trying to find, someone must have bought them!

Sorry Gary, the Lencarta 3 head at £500 includes the background which I didnt notice at first....the price difference isnt that great

Have you tried looking in the sellers feedback to see if anybody has bought any?

If they havent then its unlikely you will find anybody on here who has them
