Apparently eBay has decided to stop charging private sellers for selling their items on their platform, (excluding motor vehicles and a small number of exceptions).
So we won't have to wait for special 80% off weekends anymore.

Be interesting to see how they make up the lost revenue... possibly the introduction of some other "fees" ?

10.4% if sold via a 'featured listing' advert.

That is good news. I may have a go with my next sale.
I recently sold a few items on FB market place, and was amazed by how many scammers approached me. It was for a 5D MK III, and the amount that wanted to have their friend collect it, and even pay £20 extra for the pleasure. They even offered me PayPal, but never cash on collection.
I did meet two lovely genuine guys and the deals went very well.
I just check back through their FB history, and you can usually tell if they are scamming you. A lot use dormant accounts, and I also noticed a lot were from abroad.

Wonder, if fees are coming back next month or not. The offer seems to be for this month up to 300 listings.
I was waiting patiently to sell a Lumix LX100ii so this is very good news.

As always, the devil is in the detail. Probably got to list a few items to get the full picture ?
Here are a few of the charges for item upgrades.

I've never used these and I sold probably 100 items or more.

Reasonable BIN is all you need.

No real need to upgrade though. I see there's also a hefty fee for selling overseas and 'chargeback' whatever that is. So, there's still ways they will catch you - but overall a good move. I've bought and sold quite a few lenses and bits of kit on ebay and never had any problems whatsoever. Well - one bloke did get in touch about a lens that 'wasn't working' - I can't remember what it was now, I have a feeling he hadn't noticed the AF/MF switch on it!!

A chargeback is where some scamming b*****d calls his/her bank and claims that their card was used fraudulently. EBay will force you to use their payment system but expect you to take the risk of fraudulent transactions. Scammer gets his/her money back, you loose the money, your goods and get charged a chargeback fee.

I've moved away from using Facebook Marketplace for anything other than local classifieds; its just full of scammers these days. I also tried selling and people rightly so are very reluctant to pay first. I for one have lucked out and hence why I don't tend to use it as much these days. Hopefully this will increase what is available on eBay these days,

Fees or no fees the fact remains that there are still a lot of scammers and people that try and use things for a couple of weeks and return them due to fake faults etc. Not saying all buyers are like that but it does happen, the safest route is still via the classifieds on here for camera equipment if you can wait for the right buyer.

Honestly, I have had very few issues with eBay apart from items broken in transit which got refunded. And sometimes also taking a gamble on something cheap because the seller couldn't be bothered to write a good description and take some good photos. I guess eBay is a lot better at protecting the buyer than the seller...

I have had one issue here too, with a wide-angle lens that couldn't focus to infinity and the seller who had great feedback did a runner and never came back.
I appreciate you can trust most people here but I wouldn't call it the "safest" way. There is a long list of disputed listing threads.

I have 100% pos feedback over 2000 items sold , only once had a non delivered claim and that was for a 99p item . The secret is a totally accurate description inc any faults or marks etc , and post by Royal Mail signed for delivery for every item even if it means charging more for postage .genuine buyers won’t mind …
As for buying all the caveats stand ,I was going to buy a t.c the other week and messaged the seller I presumed he would send it RMSD and he replied it would take 3 days to get to me .. red flag ….bought elsewhere
