Unfortunately its me this time who won't sell and hoping the buyer is reasonable

Sold a Jacket with a buy it now, excellent news and off I went to pack it up

To my dismay found the bloody Zip has had it, its a Barbour and who knows how much a new brass zip would be including having it fitted

Sent the chaps cash back and apologised, not much else for it really

If it were you would you be ok agreeing to mutually cancel the deal?

Obviously got what i wanted because it was a BIN and to be honest bit miffed its now going in the bin

If he leaves negative would be my first in 10 years, but better than selling dodgy goods I reckon

If I could be assured it was genuine (I'd expect a clear image of the damage) I would agree.

If I suspect it was to wiggle out of the sale, then I'd refuse, file a NPS strike, and leave negative.

A lot of sellers fake "damage" to wiggle out of a sale - to date not one person has been willing to back this up with proof when asked.

I'm reasonable as long as people don't treat my like an idiot. So for genuine damage, then I would agree. If I suspected you were pulling a fast one, you'd be losing your Ebay account (not good nowadays as new account are now subject to a 90 day payment hold via Paypal)

I'm very harsh with bad sellers mind you and will always use feedback to warn others - its not supposed to be used a mutual backslapping. thing...

It was described as very well worn with fraying, torn lining and in need of reproofing. Hardly trying to glamourise it in any way, my own fault for not checking if the zip was ok or not

Would be a bit daft to refuse money for something on a BIN that now has to get chucked out

Had two Barbours for sale and sent the other one off today, first time anything like this has happened to me in 10 years and 320 odd positive feedbacks

Rather than throw the jacket in the bin, can't you contact the 'buyer' and offer him a reduced price? If he was willing to buy it with a torn lining and some fraying, who's to say he wouldn't mind a bust zip?

Email him back & see if he is willing to have it with the "naff" zip at a reduced rate... As long as you break even on fee's & postage - save's bin-in it then... Might even look good in your favour with him if your that worried about the FB...

To be honest I sent the cash back straight away, didn't even consider anyone would want a coat with a broken zip

Know i don't

do barbour jackets not have life time garantee like north face?

You'll never know - seen some weird stuff selll on there...

Not knowing what it sold for nor on how much it costs to fit a new zip for this maybe it might be worth the email... You'll never know like you said above - It was described as well worn....

Possibly, but don't think I would have the receipt from 1987

Sold for 25 quid BIN, but that did include the fleece lining which was in good condition

Nice chap agreed to cancel the transaction, lesson learnt, will make doubly sure of everything in future

Your being honest with him has payed off for you this time but as said above perhaps should offer your buyer the chance of it at cost of postage as a sign of good will to him
